I urge you all to relax and rest up a lot – it goes well with the “good vibes” theme of this blog. However, sometimes, finding that relaxation and rest can actually take some work. The travel before the holiday or the preparation before you can switch off, but don’t worry and stress too much. Doing the leg work to get ready to relax is well worth it.
Today is World Meditation Day. You don’t have to be a Buddhist or a master yogi to reap the benefits from a few moments of silence. Meditation has been found to improve your health, reduces inflammation, increases your capacity for compassion and can even improve your brain! The positive effects of regular meditation have been well documented for nearly two thousand years and have been verified by recent science. So give it a go, perhaps start with just two minutes and see where it takes you! You never know, you just might become even better friends with yourself.
Stress can have a major impact on your physical health as well as your mental health. In addition to anxiety, stress can cause heart problems, stomach problems, and leads to a host of other issues such as social withdrawal and sleep deprivation. How to cope? However, if you find that stress is over taking your life, the absolute best thing to do is to ask for help, from a friend, family member or professional.
