There is so much noise out there set to distract us. Stay focused, and remember there are always so many wonderful things in the world to discover and be grateful for.

You matter and you are amazing.

Yo, it is the last Saturday of 2018, sit down, relax, have a delicious beverage, and ruminate on the year.

The final weekend of 2018 is an excellent time to relax and reflect.
Do not worry about ever feeling like a square peg in a round hole. First, you probably fit in more than you realize, and second what truly counts is being true to you and your most genuine and authentic self. If something does not feel right just move onto the next thing. You do you and the rest will fall into place.

When you are true to yourself, you fit in everywhere and no where at the same time.
Today is the first day I have updated Goat of the Day from my iPhone! Screens get a lot of criticism, including contributing to insomnia, anxiety, depression, ruining our relationships, making us terrible parents and generally slow down our brains. However, I think that the smart phone revolution has a lot of benefits for humanity. For example, it makes it a lot easier to keep tabs on old friends you may have otherwise lost contact with. My family relies heavily on calendars in order to stay organized and a lot of notes and journaling that would have required lugging around a bunch of things is eliminated – I can keep it all tucked away in my pocket! I also love being able to quickly share photographs – when I was a kid if I wanted to share photographs you would have to get the film developed and pay for prints – now with a few clicks I can send photos across the Atlantic and basically no cost as things happen. I wonder, if in a few decades the weariness over such devices will have faded the same way suspicion over other new technologies in the past.
Sometimes it is so hard to stay focused. December is a time of fun and festivities, but it is also a time of deadlines and duties. Self-care during this time of year is especially important, when you feel like you are all over the place and run ragged, take a moment (or two, or five, or an hour!) for yourself to refocus before polishing off your to-do list.

Don’t forget to take care of yourself during the busy holiday season.
Never underestimate the importance of rest. Getting enough sleep and rest helps to boost our health and our ability to care for others.

Can y’all believe there is only one month left in 2018? The time can go by so fast sometimes, and this time of year is especially easy to feel over-booked. Take some time to think and reflect about the year before it slips away, there is still time to accomplish many things before 2019 rolls in!

Don’t let time get away from you!
Everyone always says Thank God it’s Friday (TGIF) but why not Thank God it’s Monday (TGIM)? Although Mondays are usually the day people return to work after the weekend, that doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a bad thing. Mondays are also great days to reset, set new goals and write up a to-do list. Find motivation in the beginning of a new week and you can accomplish amazing things!

Maybe Mondays aren’t so bad?
Time snuck up on me today! Sometimes the weekends can be so busy and fun you nearly forget to do some important things, but don’t worry y’all – I did not forget! I hope that you are all having some lovely weekend adventures, please enjoy this amazing caprine from Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats.

Whatever you are up to this weekend, I hope that it is wonderful.
Today, in the United States, is Thanksgiving. There is a lot of problematic mythology surrounding Thanksgiving in the United States. It did not originate as a peaceful gathering between American Indians sharing their bounty with English settlers, although that is the story most American school-children get growing up and is still purported by most sources. However, feasting in society serves an important purpose amalgamating social ties, familial ties, religious observances, and economic relationships. Sharing a large meal amongst a group of individuals can re-affirm social and familial ties as well as redistribute and share resources. Thanksgiving menus are special and many dishes are usually only served once or twice a year. Many Americans see Thanksgiving as the official start of the festive season leading up to Christmas and the New Year. Some (not all) may use the Thanksgiving feast as a means to fuel-up for another problematic American tradition – the violent Black Friday shopping spree. Whether you buy into the white-washed American mythology of Thanksgiving or not, gratitude is really important, and if you are reading this you at least have something to be grateful for. I’m grateful for my family, my warm flat, and the opportunity to share a goat with y’all everyday. Have a wonderful holiday y’all.

I’m grateful for my goats and supporters of goat of the day. Enjoy y’all!
