Looking around it may seem like some people just have it better than you. They may appear to be more accomplished, have more things or even enjoy more happiness than you do. Judging yourself against the lives of others only harms you. You never know what cobwebs might be hanging behind someone’s gleaming smile or job promotion. Everyone struggles, everyone has their own stories to tell, and comparing yourself to what might appear to be brighter, bigger or better than you is completely unproductive. Be proud of yourself, your story and your accomplishments AND have joy for others, knowing that you will never know their full story. Everyone deserves contentment, give yourself the gift of liberating yourself of jealousy and comparison.
Sometimes, the world is a very challenging place. Make sure to be extra kind to yourself when the going gets tough.
There is only one you in the whole universe and existence of time. Isn’t that fantastic?
The only person who really needs to approve of you is you. When you have convinced yourself that you are amazing just as you are, you will convince everyone else too.
Our lives are full of competition, to the point where sometimes it feels like you simply can’t get away from it. When you lay the groundwork, put in the hours and do your best and you come in second, sometimes that can sting quite a bit. However, do not despair if you come in second, third, or even sixty-fourth in the competition. It may not feel like it in the moment, but the work you put in does count and eventually will lead to wonderful things, just maybe not in snagging the coveted first spot. Today’s entry is dedicated to Hugo, who valiantly represented Cambridge at the Oxford Cambridge Goat Race this past Sunday, and came in second. Maybe your year will be 2020, Hugo, or maybe your victory has yet to manifest, but either way, you were smashing and should be proud.
Don’t get stuck in the day to day, keep your eyes and mind on the bigger picture. Things are never as bad as they seem, and you never know, one day you have your head stuck in a fence, in a few months you might be on top of the world.
Have you ever felt like a weirdo? As though you are a square peg trying to fit in a round hole? Perhaps, the qualities about you that may make you weird, peculiar, or different are actually the very things that make you awesome, and may even be your greatest strengths.
Sometimes, it is easy to be overwhelmed with worry about all the things that could go wrong. What if, the next time you feel bogged down by negative possibilities you stop and ask yourself – what if everything goes right? What if my plan succeeds in the best possible way? What is the best possible outcome? If you don’t go for it, you will probably avoid the worst case scenario – but you also deny yourself the possibility for the best case scenario. So, go for it, and envision what will happen if everything works out!
