The ninth of February 2019

Everything is so competitive these days, from parenting to the office to the gym to the kitchen, it can be exhausting. I say, rather than run yourself ragged, take a break from the competition, relax and sit back. You aren’t as behind the self-aggrandizers as it may seem, and can do what you love better after a recharge. Enjoy the weekend y’all.

Saturdays are a wonderful time to slow down and have a nice, long sit.

When the world seems hostile or indifferent, the best thing you can possibly do is simply keep moving. Things will get better, the wind and the storm will pass, so will today’s struggle. By this time next year, it may not even matter or be a distant memory. You never know, the trouble you experience today might make for golden memories tomorrow.

Sometimes the best way to weather what life throws at you is to keep moving.

Fitting in is over-rated. The things that make you weird are the same things that make you wonderful. Thanks to my partner, Adam Green, for the fantastic photograph of a sassy goat amongst some sheep in Haryana, India.

There are some times when the best thing is to be quiet and listen. Someone may have something important or difficult to say, or you might pick up on some important detail that could help you solve a problem. It’s good to share, but it’s also great to listen.

A new week is upon us – are you looking forward to anything (aside from and including spring)? Sundays are a great time to check in and make a plan for the upcoming week, you never know, something amazing might happen!

Whatever is on the horizon, I hope that it is wonderful.

Lack of sunlight, winter coughs and polar vortexes make it very tempting to spend February hiding indoors, but I promise you, those brief moments of fresh air and chilly sunshine are totally worth it. Get out there, even if only for a little bit!

Don’t hide until spring, winter has its magic too.

It’s ok to not feel like smiling some of the time, but when you do feel like smiling, make sure you share it with everyone you pass. You never know how you might unwittingly make someone’s day by sharing a kind smile.

An authentic smile can light up someone’s day.

In our never ending quest to find true happiness and satisfaction in our lives the solution is so incredibly simple: just be kind. Believe it or not, even with all of the terrible headlines, it is in our nature to be kind. Not only is it something that has been observed in human infants, but kindness is also contagious, costs nothing and is good for your body and soul. So open your heart and open your borders – before you make up your mind shift your perspective towards kindness and compassion. You never know, it might lead you somewhere wonderful.

Don’t be walled in, set yourself free.

There is something about the cold, damp days of January and February that always makes me want to hibernate. However, everyday the sun rises a smidgen earlier and sets a smidgen later. There is always something to look forward to, even if it’s an extra few moments of sunshine.

Get yourself up and out even if it’s cold!

Sometimes, it is easy to be overwhelmed with worry about all the things that could go wrong. What if, the next time you feel bogged down by negative possibilities you stop and ask yourself – what if everything goes right? What if my plan succeeds in the best possible way? What is the best possible outcome? If you don’t go for it, you will probably avoid the worst case scenario – but you also deny yourself the possibility for the best case scenario. So, go for it, and envision what will happen if everything works out!

What is the best case scenario, rather than the worst?
