One of the best things about the Goat of the Day blog is the friendly reminders that even in our fast-paced, technological-social-media-driven world, people are still keeping tabs on you. I was an early adopter of Facebook way back in 2005 and can say with confidence that I have personally met all 615 people who are my friends. Sometimes, friends that I have known ages ago who I otherwise would have lost complete contact with, send me messages with personal goat photographs. Today’s goats are one such picture, from a high school friend of mine, Tiffany. Tiffany was super cool and liked vampires and drove a Saab. She joined the army and we lost touch, but thanks to Facebook we’re able to keep tabs. Thanks Tiffany, for sending me a picture of two fabulous angora goats from Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park, Kansas.

What a time to be alive!

One day, someone made a series of decisions to bring you into the world. A world that is full of chaos, challenge and unspeakable difficulties. But someone decided that it would be worth it to give it a go and bring you, yes you, into this world. Along the way, there were many sacrifices and unknown mountains to climb. First they gave you part of their body and carried you, and then risking life and limb, they birthed you into the world. Then, in your most vulnerable state, that person cared for you. They fed you, clothed you, socialized you, read you loads of storybooks repeatedly, made sure you had the right toys at the right stages of your development, and poured over information about how to ensure that you would grow up to be the best possible you. You weren’t always grateful and it certainly was not always easy, but here you are.

If you are lucky enough to still have that someone in your life, make sure to call them up and say Happy Mother’s Day.

Thank you to all the moms, their hard work and unspoken sacrifices

It is really a wonderful thing to have people in your life to care for. However, the best way to care for those special people in your life is to make sure that you also take care of yourself. If you are happy, balanced and fulfilled you can better take care of those you love. And those good vibes are likely to be contagious!

Always make sure that you nourish yourself

Have faith in the universe, good things are on their way.

Trust yourself, trust that things are going to work out.

Do not let whatever happened yesterday, last week, last year or five years ago take up too much space in your mind. What matters is what is happening, what you are doing, right here and right now.

Be in the now and let it go.

We live in a beautiful world, full of diverse life and environments. Sadly, the world is changing as the global temperature climbs higher and higher every year. Today is Earth Day, and perhaps consider two things. First, think about ways that you can help out. Maybe instead of driving to a shop you cycle, walk or take public transportation. Start carrying some cloth bags to carry your groceries in and say no to disposable plastics. Or even consider reducing your consumption of meat and dairy products. Second, demand that your government representatives take the threat of climate change seriously, as it effects us all. The Earth is a wondrous place, and we are her stewards, it’s up to us to set things right.

The time for climate action is now.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate. If that is not you, that is ok, I hope that you were able to capitalize on the commercialization of the holiday and enjoy some chocolate. If that is you, I hope you had a lovely day as well.

Did y’all know it was Easter? Good news, summer is just around the corner!

So, yesterday I dragged my family to a goat sanctuary that was not open to the public. I felt fairly bad, as it was a beautiful day and being cooped up in the car is no fun. Luckily, along our journey home we happened upon Pear Tree Farm Shop in Cheshire. It is a lovely shop, run by a very friendly woman with a son about the same age as mine. We walked in and fortuitously she mentioned something about goats! And there they were, three Pygmy goats enjoying the sunshine! My son enjoyed a delicious sausage roll and this morning I fried up half a dozen free range eggs for breakfast. Plus, I have a few new goat photographs for the archives.

Today, was one of those days. My family and I had been spending some time in a holiday caravan near the Yorkshire Dales National Park and made our way back to our home after a lovely holiday. I had planned two stops on the way back, first to a trout farm, and second to a goat sanctuary to take new and exciting pictures of goats for my blog. I realize, that some of the goats you may have grown familiar with, as my visit to Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats last autumn produced quite a few unique photographs. However, I worry that my material has grown stale and that my followers and supporters are bored. I try to get new photographs whenever I have an opportunity.

Anyway, first, the trout farm was basically a pond where old men (I did not see any young people or women there) fish for trout and was not exciting and given that I was with my five year old, we were encouraged to leave.

Second, we found The Goat Sanctuary, somewhere between Manchester and Liverpool, but sadly it was not open to the public. I did manage to find some goats today, but will save them for tomorrow. As today has been a tad strange, I shall share with you my most favorite photograph from my library of goats. I met this goat in Delhi, India, and was struck by the self-assured glint in its eye, as though it holds some secrets of the universe or special knowledge. I think that even if Google sends this goat astray on its journey, it will continue to smile and saunter along as if that was always their plan. At any rate, today was a lovely spring day and a wonderful opportunity to meander across England.

This is my most favorite goat.

Sundays are a wonderful time for a nice big meal. In the UK, many people enjoy a Sunday roast that features a carefully roasted meat or nut entree accompanied by a variety of delicious sides featuring potatoes, root vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Wherever you may be in the world while you are reading this, I hope you have a delicious meal to look forward to that fuels your body and mind for the upcoming week.

Sundays are the perfect time to rest and refuel.
