People who regularly practice gratitude are generally happier and may even experience other health benefits such as improved sleep and stronger immune systems. Practicing gratitude can be as simple as taking a moment to be thankful for someone in your life, a day of lovely weather, or even a slice of cake.

Even simple things like sunshine and fresh air are things to be grateful for.

Nothing is ever or will ever be perfect, no matter how hard you try or how hard you work. That doesn’t mean working and trying isn’t worth it, absolutely it is! Although your creation may not be perfect, the more you put in the more glorious it will be.

Perfect is boring, a messy life is a life well-lived.

Never leave for tomorrow what could be done today is usually a sage piece of advice; however, once in awhile, it is ok to leave the sink with some dishes, the floor with some laundry, or boring chores for the next day if something more pressing comes up first. That can even include allowing yourself adequate rest!

Don’t worry, it will get done, always prioritize yourself.

Today is World Meditation Day. You don’t have to be a Buddhist or a master yogi to reap the benefits from a few moments of silence. Meditation has been found to improve your health, reduces inflammation, increases your capacity for compassion and can even improve your brain! The positive effects of regular meditation have been well documented for nearly two thousand years and have been verified by recent science. So give it a go, perhaps start with just two minutes and see where it takes you! You never know, you just might become even better friends with yourself.

Stress can have a major impact on your physical health as well as your mental health. In addition to anxiety, stress can cause heart problems, stomach problems, and leads to a host of other issues such as social withdrawal and sleep deprivation. How to cope? I am still figuring that out, but one start is to enjoy some sunshine. It is perfectly acceptable to take some time for yourself and literally do nothing. However, if you find that stress is over taking your life, the absolute best thing to do is to ask for help, from a friend, family member or professional.

Breathe in and breathe out, try not to stress, and take care of yourself ❤

Sometimes the best plan is to have no plan. Just relax, enjoy and explore. You might find something amazing.

Allow yourself a day or two to go without a plan, you never know what you might discover

It is really a wonderful thing to have people in your life to care for. However, the best way to care for those special people in your life is to make sure that you also take care of yourself. If you are happy, balanced and fulfilled you can better take care of those you love. And those good vibes are likely to be contagious!

Always make sure that you nourish yourself

Today is May Day, or International Workers’ Day. Interestingly, May Day originated in Chicago, Illinois, where demonstrators organised in May of 1886 after a two year effort to rally support for enforcement of eight hour work days. The Haymarket Meeting was put to an end by over zealous police officers who stormed the otherwise peaceful meeting demanding more equitable and safer working conditions. Eight men were arrested for involvement with the riot, although some of them were not even at the event, four were executed, three eventually pardoned, and one died mysteriously in a jail cell from the impact of a dynamite explosion. Needless to say, in 1889, at an international meeting for labor in Paris, May Day was designated as International Workers Day in honor of those who were lost in the fight for an eight hour working day. Although, not really celebrated in the United States anymore, May Day maintains international significance, and is widely a day of celebration and/or protest to continue the fight for better working conditions across the globe.

So, thank you to the brave men and women who stood up for the eight hour working day a century ago.

Happy International Workers Day everyone, may you be fairly compensated for your labor!

We live in a beautiful world, full of diverse life and environments. Sadly, the world is changing as the global temperature climbs higher and higher every year. Today is Earth Day, and perhaps consider two things. First, think about ways that you can help out. Maybe instead of driving to a shop you cycle, walk or take public transportation. Start carrying some cloth bags to carry your groceries in and say no to disposable plastics. Or even consider reducing your consumption of meat and dairy products. Second, demand that your government representatives take the threat of climate change seriously, as it effects us all. The Earth is a wondrous place, and we are her stewards, it’s up to us to set things right.

The time for climate action is now.
