The ninth of August 2019

Whew, sometimes the weeks feel like they go by so fast! Take some time this weekend to pause and take an inventory of all the amazing things in your life. It is hard but sometimes remembering a special detail here and there can highlight the best bits of life that can easily slip under the radar and be taken for granted.

So many little things to take stock of and be grateful for this weekend ❤

If you find yourself overwhelmed, take a moment to check in, relax, and just breathe. Find a comfortable seat, close your eyes and listen to your breathe and let the moment pass. Summer can be lovely, but it can also be super busy, so make sure to look after yourself amidst the holiday adventures.

Inhale, exhale, allow yourself a moment of quiet rest here and there

Thank you to my lovely friend Helen for suggesting a visit to Wimpole Estate to photograph some goats. Wimpole is home to a herd of Bagot goats, a breed known for its distinctive black and white colour. The origin of the breed is not known, but they have resided in England since at least the 1300s. They are intrepid conservationists and often employed to graze upon historical sites to maintain surrounding landscapes.

As close as I could get to the beautiful bagot goats at Wimpole

I have said it before when I am running late, and I will likely say it again in the future. Sometimes, if you save something until the very last minute, it only takes a minute to do.

With 45 minutes to spare!

You make the best plans and set forth, only to find after many of life’s diversions and detours that you feel lost and off course. It happens to everyone, even with the most carefully laid out plans and the hardest work. Consider that maybe you aren’t actually lost, and heading somewhere else, somewhere even better, somewhere you were truly meant to be. Thank you to my friend Chloe Ashley for spotting this lovely goat near Cromer, UK.

Lost in the weeds or intentionally enjoying the majestic countryside?

When things don’t quite seem to be working out the way you planned, just focus on the present moment. There is nothing you can do to change the past, and the future has yet to be written, so just allow yourself to enjoy all the beautiful things of the now.

Find the wonderful in the present and don’t fret over the past

Sometimes you just have to find your opening and sometimes you have to nudge it open yourself. There is always a way forward, even if sometimes it feels like it’s going to be a tight squeeze.

Seriously though, you can do it!

Sometimes life can be really difficult and it can feel very unfair. By no means am I an expert in how to handle every challenge, complication or adversity that we encounter throughout our lives. However, even in the darkest of hours, perhaps when it is time to say goodbye to an ideal or a dream or a reality that must end or will never be, there are always glimmers of hope, like streetlights shining on puddles in potholes. For example, tiny, baby goats.

Life is wonderful but hard, luckily we have the internet and digital cameras to make it a bit brighter.

It is never too late to start something new or make a big change. Rest today and prepare for new opportunities and developments for the week ahead.

Feel like changing course? To quote a famous shoe, just do it.
