Hold the space for the people you care about – always be open and present to your friends. Stand beside them without judgement and give your support freely and unconditionally. I hope you all have someone in your life to hold the space for, and most likely they are holding the space for you too.

Consider this holiday to hold the space for our caprine friends at The Haven Zoo. There is still time to sponsor the herd, including super pals Bernie and Angela (below). Your small and generous donation will support the herd through providing necessary veterinarian check-ups, a healthy diet and comfy shed, PLUS, you will receive quarterly updates and a certificate of friendship.

Art is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, the eye of the horn holder. That is right, our friends at The Haven Zoo created some fantastic paintings of the horn imprints of Boone, Otis and Bernie’s horns. The Haven provides a wonderful place for rescued animals including a herd of goats and now offer the opportunity to sponsor the goats and ensure their high quality of care is maintained. Help keep the Haven goat herd happy and healthy and if you sponsor before Thursday (December 19) you will be entered in prize-draw to win one of the paintings created by the goats seen below!

Unfortunately, it is inevitable that sometimes people say or do unfortunate things. You have no control over the actions of others, but you do have control over your own actions and reactions. As challenging as it can be, always choose kindness and compassion.

If you want things to happen you gotta put yourself out there. Don’t be afraid to show the world all the amazing things you have to offer.

Step out of your comfort zone and go for it

The twenty second of October 2019

There is a definite chill in the air as the world slips deeper into autumn. The days are growing shorter and shorter and the winds have a bit of a bite. Make sure to wear lots of cozy layers! Just make sure those jumpers and cardigans aren’t made of mohair – remember our friends the Angola goats. Be kind to our curly caprine friends and choose plant-based fabrics instead.

Trust me, the mohair looks better on her than it would you.

The thirteenth of October 2019

goats

I completely forgot to celebrate Goat of the Day’s first birthday, which occurred on October 1st. I am a bit stunned that I have managed to carry on posting my goat photographs everyday for now over a year! The majority of these goats I have had the pleasure of meeting and photographing in person, with a few exceptions of when friends have met and photographed goats and sent them along, and a few famous goat portraits that float around the internet.

This feat would not have been possible without my friends who think of me when they see goats, nor would it have been possible without my partner who has patiently driven me to places where goats reside, or accompanied me to events where we will happen upon goats and who supports my daily habit. Also, this blog would not be possible without my mother who generously gave me my camera that has been hard at work photographing goats since the summer of 2019. I am also grateful to all of those people who read this blog, for whatever reason, who like the posts and give me a follow. I hope to continue to provide pictures of goats with good vibes for at least a while longer. To that end, I revisited one of my most favourite places in all of the England, Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats. I urge you if you ever find yourself in southern England to spend an afternoon among the friendly goats in their caprine utopia.

Many, many thanks to Buttercups for keeping these amazing creatures and allowing the public to enjoy

Last weekend’s harvest moon has really got me thinking about nourishment. As the seasons change, sometimes so do our priorities. The back to school vibe of September is a great time to check in and figure out what best fills you up – nutritionally, emotionally, even spiritually.

Be full of hope and gratitude this fall

Sometimes people like to recommend doing one thing each day that scares you. Perhaps instead, do at least one thing each day that fills you with joy.

Focus on joy, eat some ice cream, take a stroll in the sunshine

Today is the 182nd day of the year, so we are halfway through! Time really goes by quite quickly sometimes – take some time to reflect on all that you have experienced and accomplished so far this year – and perhaps revisit and reimagine resolutions and goals you set for yourself 182 days ago and make new ones for the next 182 days ahead.

Already halfway to 2020….
