Sometimes, the world is a very challenging place. Make sure to be extra kind to yourself when the going gets tough.

The truly tough take some time for self care before, during and after the “getting going” bit.

Sometimes, the best strategy is to detach yourself from the gratification of achievement, but focus on the benefits of the work itself. If you focus too much on the end result, you might miss something amazing along the way.

It is ok if it takes awhile to complete a goal – enjoy the adventure!
Isn’t is amazing that compassion for others is a major theme of every major world religion? Everyone, no matter what choices or circumstances they have in life, experiences suffering. Not only is compassion featured prominently as a way to be in the world across all religions, but there is an evolutionary component. When we experience compassion, our hormones secrete oxytocin in parts of our brain activating our pleasure centres. I’m not going to promote a specific religion – or lack thereof – I’m just saying that we suffer far less when we are willing to suffer together.

Live compassionately and spread joy.
One of the best things about the Goat of the Day blog is the friendly reminders that even in our fast-paced, technological-social-media-driven world, people are still keeping tabs on you. I was an early adopter of Facebook way back in 2005 and can say with confidence that I have personally met all 615 people who are my friends. Sometimes, friends that I have known ages ago who I otherwise would have lost complete contact with, send me messages with personal goat photographs. Today’s goats are one such picture, from a high school friend of mine, Tiffany. Tiffany was super cool and liked vampires and drove a Saab. She joined the army and we lost touch, but thanks to Facebook we’re able to keep tabs. Thanks Tiffany, for sending me a picture of two fabulous angora goats from Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park, Kansas.

What a time to be alive!
Press on and persevere – don’t worry, the view from the top is worth the struggle.

Resilience can be as simple as taking a step forward.
One day, someone made a series of decisions to bring you into the world. A world that is full of chaos, challenge and unspeakable difficulties. But someone decided that it would be worth it to give it a go and bring you, yes you, into this world. Along the way, there were many sacrifices and unknown mountains to climb. First they gave you part of their body and carried you, and then risking life and limb, they birthed you into the world. Then, in your most vulnerable state, that person cared for you. They fed you, clothed you, socialized you, read you loads of storybooks repeatedly, made sure you had the right toys at the right stages of your development, and poured over information about how to ensure that you would grow up to be the best possible you. You weren’t always grateful and it certainly was not always easy, but here you are.
If you are lucky enough to still have that someone in your life, make sure to call them up and say Happy Mother’s Day.

Thank you to all the moms, their hard work and unspoken sacrifices
If you ever find yourself wondering what the best solution to a problem is, the answer is to do whatever is kindest. You can never go wrong when you choose to be kind.

Kindness is a sustainable form of joy.
I hope that you have something wonderful to look forward to this weekend!

Hopefully it’s sunny.
Stress can have a major impact on your physical health as well as your mental health. In addition to anxiety, stress can cause heart problems, stomach problems, and leads to a host of other issues such as social withdrawal and sleep deprivation. How to cope? I am still figuring that out, but one start is to enjoy some sunshine. It is perfectly acceptable to take some time for yourself and literally do nothing. However, if you find that stress is over taking your life, the absolute best thing to do is to ask for help, from a friend, family member or professional.

Breathe in and breathe out, try not to stress, and take care of yourself ❤
There is only one you in the whole universe and existence of time. Isn’t that fantastic?

Stay you, stay fab
