The thirteenth of October 2019

I completely forgot to celebrate Goat of the Day’s first birthday, which occurred on October 1st. I am a bit stunned that I have managed to carry on posting my goat photographs everyday for now over a year! The majority of these goats I have had the pleasure of meeting and photographing in person, with a few exceptions of when friends have met and photographed goats and sent them along, and a few famous goat portraits that float around the internet.

This feat would not have been possible without my friends who think of me when they see goats, nor would it have been possible without my partner who has patiently driven me to places where goats reside, or accompanied me to events where we will happen upon goats and who supports my daily habit. Also, this blog would not be possible without my mother who generously gave me my camera that has been hard at work photographing goats since the summer of 2019. I am also grateful to all of those people who read this blog, for whatever reason, who like the posts and give me a follow. I hope to continue to provide pictures of goats with good vibes for at least a while longer. To that end, I revisited one of my most favourite places in all of the England, Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats. I urge you if you ever find yourself in southern England to spend an afternoon among the friendly goats in their caprine utopia.

Many, many thanks to Buttercups for keeping these amazing creatures and allowing the public to enjoy

Sometime it is easy to let the weekend fill up with chores or tasks you did not have time for during the week. Always make sure to leave some time open for fun and relaxation – especially during summer if its beautiful outside!

Make sure to take some time to do nothing this weekend and enjoy some sunshine

The best experiences I have had are when I have allowed myself to let the odd bits shine out. It is hard to be vulnerable sometimes, and so often we are wrapped up in perceived competitions or over-worried about acceptance that the face we show the world isn’t really our own, but a face we think the word wants to see. Perhaps consider letting that shit go and just showing the world your face every now and then. It might lead to something wonderful.

It is absolutely ok for you to do you ❤

If you keep your expectations low, you will never be disappointed. Perhaps this is the key to happiness, or at least a wonderful weekend.

The best way to spend a weekend is relaxing with friends and doing things you love.

The difficult days are the ones to endure, because they make the happy and joyous days that much brighter. Take care of yourselves everyone.

Perfection is boring, persistence is amazing.

What are your plans for the week? It is good to have an idea of what you need to get done and hope to accomplish, but it is also good to be flexible and able to say “yes!” to surprise opportunities that might come up throughout the week. Saying yes may just be the start of something incredible!

Flexible planning is a great way to organize your time!

People who regularly practice gratitude are generally happier and may even experience other health benefits such as improved sleep and stronger immune systems. Practicing gratitude can be as simple as taking a moment to be thankful for someone in your life, a day of lovely weather, or even a slice of cake.

Even simple things like sunshine and fresh air are things to be grateful for.

When you travel by air, before the flight takes off, there are always safety instructions in the event of a loss of cabin pressure. Part of those instructions are ensuring that your oxygen mask is securely fastened before assisting others. I hope that you never experience a loss of cabin pressure where you have to use the oxygen mask; however, the same wisdom can be applied to our everyday lives. Before we can truly help others, we must ensure that our own needs are met. Take time to make sure that you are adequately nourished, inside and out, so you can be there for someone else.

Self care is never selfish.

Reflect on how far you’ve come. It may not seem like it everyday, but you have actually accomplished quite a bit and your existence makes someone else’s life a bit brighter and happier. Don’t look back in regret, look back with admiration for all you have survived. Look back to build strength to push forward – if you have made it this far the possibilities about how far you will go are endless!

The past is all part of your epic saga, without it you wouldn’t be who you are or where you are.
